Introducing the library

The Library of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts is a scholarly reference library. It is Hungary’s only scholarly library of Oriental art, preserving and mediating documents pertaining to its fields of interest. The main purpose of the library is to popularise and proliferate knowledge of Asian cultures, and within this the Asian visual arts, by utilising its holdings and services. The library holdings comprise over 30 thousand volumes and publications.
The library’s main field of interest extends to the literature pertaining to the art, history, cultures and religions of Asian and North African nations. It provides its registered members with reading room and reprographic services, while readers of other libraries can access the library’s holdings of Oriental art through inter-library lending.
