Dhrupad: Classic music of ancient India | Experimental programme with Dr. Sumeet Anand Pandey dhrupad master

We invite visitors to a truly special programme, with special regards for fans of Indian classical music: a close encounter with Dhrupad music, style and teaching.
Dr. Sumeet Anand Pandey, Dhrupad singer (whose masters were his grandfather and Pandit Abhay Narayan Mallick), who will be visiting Hungary, agreed to come to Hopp Museum to hold an informal, interactive, hands-on lecture and teaching in the garden. Visitors and members of the audience are encouraged to actively participate: experiment with their voices, learn some basics of Dhrupad, immerse themselves in this ancient tradition.
The Dhrupad style is the oldest form of Hindustani classical music. Its origins are traced back thousands of years through its links with Sanskrit texts and the Vedas. It is not only music and poetry, but at once presence, contemplation and meditative contemplation, a state of elevation and peace, music with improvisation, play, communion and the experience of unity. The singer's companions are the tanpura, a bladed instrument that is a constant foundation of this music, and the pakhawaj, or barrel drum, the most ancient rhythm instrument of Northern India.
In addition to this exceptional experience, the programme offers interesting and valuable discoveries and experiences for those familiar with music history, history, psychology, improvisation and jazz. Voice, explanations that illuminate the understanding of the musical world, accompanying instruments and the rhythmic world of the style all offer an exciting adventure for visitors with different interests.
Beyond this, we can gain an insight into the method and experience of traditional teaching based on observation and imitation.

Music lovers, and all who love reflective, uplifting music are welcome!

The programme is free of charge!
