Lecture by Yukio Lippit, Professor at Harvard University, on the MFA Japan Collection in Boston
Yukio Lippit is Professor of Art and Architecture History at Harvard University. Lippit has previously taught at universities in Tokyo, Bogota, Germany and Brazil, and served as Art Director of the Johnson-Kulukundis Family Faculty of the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University from 2013 to 2018.
He is currently working on a collection of essays on Japanese architecture and a volume of studies on the East Asian art treasures of the 8th-century Japanese imperial treasury of Shōsōin, which includes more than 9,000 artefacts.
Lippit will be attending several art conferences during his European visit. In his lecture at Hopp Museum (venue: Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest), he will present the world-renowned collection of Japanese art and its most important pieces at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, which is also the largest collection of Japanese art in the world outside Japan. The theme of the lecture will be inspired by the new temporary exhibition , which served as the inspiration for Vay's own collection activity.
Lecture is held in Japanese with Hungarian interpretation.
