The two eccentric Zen figures of Kanzan and Jittoku form almost a single mass, occupying a large circular field in the centre of the painting. The bamboo broom lying in the foreground is a reference to Jittoku’s typical attribute. In the bottom left-hand corner of the painting are an ink inscription and a red stamp.
