Mission Statement

In harmony with the fundamental transformation of museums in recent decades and in response to the challenges and demands of the 21st century, the mission of the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts is to create an Oriental cultural centre and visitor-centred museum mediating Oriental arts and cultures. To accord with this task and taking into account the European Union’s basic principle of lifelong learning, the museum strives to teach through experience, impart information to every age group, foster the authentic familiarisation based on science of the uniqueness of Oriental cultures as well their common features in a globalizing world, as well as knowledge that rests on genuine scientific foundations, while providing guidance and mediating values. The museum undertakes to ensure institutional openness, transparency and access to the widest spectrum of information and knowledge for visitors, as well as provide equal access for all. An important part of the museum’s mission is to expand and make meaningful its network of relations, engage in successful cooperation with other institutions, organisations and private individuals both domestic and international in order to realize its strategic objectives.
