Treasures of Ancient China - The Age of the Jade Emperors | Exhibition at Móra Ferenc Museum, Szeged | 24 June - 31 December 2023
A fascinating exhibition has opened on 24 June 2023, the Night of Museums, at Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged. The exhibition entitled "Treasures of Ancient China - The Age of the Jade Emperors" presents original ancient Chinese artefacts illustrating everyday life, burial customs, rulers, and visitors may learn about the nomadic peoples who once lived on the borders of China. The highlight of the exhibition is a jade armour that was used for the burial of dead rulers, and is made from 1,460 pieces of jade leaf fastened with gold threads.

István Sántha, social anthropologist and researcher of Inner Asia (ELKH Humanities Research Center, Research Institute of Ethnography) gave a lecture in the Yurts and Monasteries exhibition about Hungarian travelers and explorers of Inner Asia, among others Vilmos Diószegi.

Two scholarly conferences took place this week celebrating the 120. anniversary of Lajos Ligeti's birth
The Department of Mongolian and Inner Asian Studies at Eötvös Loránd University organised a one-day conference on the 18th of October with the participation of Hungarian and Mongolian scholéars; and hosted another, two-day, international conference on 20-21 October, titled Aspects of Mongolian Buddhism – Animals, Plants and Bioethics.
