Maruni chigai takanoha mon. The kimono was the most distinct and characteristic manifestation of the Japanese culture. From the end of the 19th century the kimono appeared as the manifestation of Japaneseness, and similarly to the structured system of poetry, it became a vehicle of artistic expression.
