On Chinese roofs, terminals of roof tiles were either circular (Chinese gotou) or semicircular, lobed tiles with a curved rim (Chinese dishui). Cloud-shaped, glazed terminals are characteristic examples of the latter type. The ornamental panel, framed with a broad, protuberant rim, depicts the figure of a dragon flying among clouds.
