A street in Busan’s Dongaegu district, with the southern gate of Dongnae Eupseong Fortress in the distance. On the left side of the road, stalls selling paper can be seen, and a woman, walking with a tub on her head and a child in her arm. On the right, a man is walking towards the camera, and several people outside the houses watch the photographer in action. In 1592, Dongnae Fortress was the first
target of the Japanese invasion. It was restored and expanded in 1713, but like the other Korean fortresses, it was demolished by the Japanese in 1910. Certain parts of it now can be seen restored.
