Formerly seated on a tall lotus throne, this statue of Lord Amida once served to assure believers of their salvation. The Buddha of “Measureless Light” (Japanese: Muyoko) is depicted in the lotus position (Japanese: kekkafuza), his two feet resting on his thighs, and his light spreads in all directions, towards the ten points of the compass. His hair is arranged in tiny coils, with a jewel (rocky crystal) inlaid at the front.
