Depicted on an ornately carved three-tier hexagonal throne, the Amida Buddha (Sanskrit: Amitābha) sits in the full lotus position (Japanese: kekkafuza), his feet resting on his thighs, in the cup of an open white lotus flower, although the painting shows only one of his feet. The scroll has a floral brocade mounting.
