A rectangular box covered with floral design, decorated with the niello technique, which was very popular in Siam at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The niello is a rather elaborate craft technique that was introduced to Thailand by the Portuguese or the Persians. It was mainly the aristocrats of the time who commissioned craftsmen to make niello objects.
