The so-called "child Buddha" is the historical Buddha, Sakyamuni, depicted in the form of a child. The chubby boy, standing on a high lotus pedestal, usually wears only a shoulder sash or loincloth, with the second and third fingers of his right hand pointing to the sky and the left hand or index finger pointing to the ground.
