The staue is depicting Gautama Shakyamuni, the Sage of the Shakyas in accordance with iconographical rules. He sears in a meditative posture wearing a dhoti with flower patterned border. His body lacks of any ornamentation. His right hand touches the earth and his left hand forms a meditative gesture holding an empty alms bowl. He is seated on a double lotus throne over the petals have vertical engreves and lines below it. The ornaments form a perfect circle. Based on the characteristics this statue was identified as a work of the Urga School.
