Dezső Bozóky hand-coloured glass diapositive. Unknown photographer. Photograph purchased by Dezső Bozóky. Related item: A.4760.2.27.3. (photo). A commoner’s funeral procession. Twelve men in white clothes carry a heavy wooden coffin on their shoulders. The oiled paper hats, usually worn against the rain, are now donned for their white colour, which signifies mourning. A young man walks at the front of the procession; the coffin is followed by a close relative of the deceased on horseback, after whom comes a palanquin with a female relative.
