The uniqueness of Chinese roofs lies in the peculiar shape and the specific features of tiles. The roof ridge ends are decorated with stylized figures of beasts (Chinese qiwen). The ridge ornament, coated with dark blue glaze, is decorated with reliefs depicting scales and combing waves.
