Although the Vietnamese owe many techniques and motifs to Chinese masters, what is called "chicken foot motif" is not one of them: it is a unique local invention. The object in the picture was brought to the Hopp Museum in 1961 as an exchange gift from the Museum of History of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Inside, the five-pointed bulge is the mark of spurs.
