This box with enamel and niello decoration was a state gift. The lid is decorated with a background of parrots and squirrels hiding under a canopy, a central figure with two palms pressed together in greeting gesture (Skt.: anjali mudra), and a coat of arms on each side. On the left, the personal royal badge of King Rama IX (Bhumibol Adulyadej, reigned 1946 - 2006) is shown, in the field of the "The Great Crown of Victory" (the symbol of the reigning monarch). The emblem on the right is a personal seal created from the name of his wife, Queen Sirikit.
The object was donated to the Hopp Museum in 2000 by Árpád Göncz, President of the Republic of Hungary.
