Wang Hui was one of the most versatile artists of Chinese orthodox painters and member of the group known as the four Wangs. He often painted landscapes in the old masters’ style like he did in this picture: he relies on the work of a painter from the tenth century. The painting was probably painted by one of his followers in the 18th century
