Balinese dancer on pedestal (carved in one piece). Light-coloured, unstained wood carving of a partially nude female figure in traditional costume (headdress, earrings), holding the ends of a scarf hanging from her neck, which is an accessory to the ongoing dance performance.
The emphasis on the breast makes it clear that the object is intended as a souvenir. Pieces with a similar design were very popular with European men visiting the island in the first half of the 20th century.
