Branches of a plum tree reach up to the heights from the bottom-left corner of the picture. Lined up along the branches are tiny, open flowers, heralding the arrival of spring. The criss-crossing branches and the black-and-white interplay of flowers is a virtuoso exemplar of pen-and-ink work.
