Kannon, the bodhisattva of compassion (Sanskrit: Avalokiteśvara), sits on a rock in front of a waterfall, which is seen cascading down from the
distant mountains. The torrent shown in the background turns into a gentle stream at her feet. She wears typical Japanese clothing: a long blue kimono with an obi around her waist.
