A silver North Thai round shaped betel container (klong mak) with floral motifs running around the tip and repeated lotus leaf motifs on the sides. The base has a three-star makers' mark and a difficult to make out inscription, probably Thai.
The object in the picture is a common accessory in betel sets consisting of three or five similar boxes and a betel leaf holder. Its ornate design and material suggest that it was made for a middle-class clientele.
