The picture shows the activities of the three women in a triangular composition. The character depicted in profile on the left is presumably engaged in handiwork with her contoured companion to her right, while the third, furthest from the viewer and composed in the middle (also seen in profile), is raising her hand to her mouth. All are dressed in traditional local costume, with batik sarong and shawl. The engraving was a gift to the collection of the Hopp Museum from Dr. Tibor Bodrogi, a renowned Hungarian ethnographer and an excellent expert on Oceania and the Indonesian archipelago.
