Balinese topeng mask used for masked dance performance. It probably represents Teleh Luk, a character in one of the most important Balinese dance plays, the Barong.

The distinctive Hindu-Balinese culture of the Indonesian island of Bali is essentially permeated by rituals, of which dance movements are an integral part. Their aim is to reconcile the forces of harm and to (inevitably) restore the balance that has been upset again and again.
