This hand-made house model depicts the typical house type called tongkonan of the Toraja people of the southern part of the island of Sulawesi (Celebes).
The tongkonan is a boat-shaped building on piles with a saddleback roof, usually built with the collaboration of several families, and is the embodiment of the Toraja microcosm.
A gift from Gajus Sceltema, former ambassador of the Netherlands to Hungary.
