Collected by Ferenc Hopp. This dayak sword or machete belonging to the parang type is relatively easy to recognise by the change of its direction at a sharp angle above the hilt from where the blade gradually widens. Its scabbard is made of two flat pieces of wood joined together by plant fibres and rattan. As a decoration, a dried fruit dangles from the end of a string. The top of the hilt is a characteristic carved wooden 'knob', above which a part of the handle is wrapped in metal cord. Designed for two-handed use.
