"Sema commemorative pendant". A silver pendant imitating a coat-of-arms shield, commissioned in 1901 by King Mongkut of Thailand before his visit to the northern provinces of his empire. As part of the royal visit, the monarch presented his younger audience with those neck pendants, shown in the picture (the commemorative pendant was made for children). The royal crown, which is bathed in sunlight, is shown above the royal initials on the coat of arms.
