The ornate tents temporarily erected by Rajput rulers for celebrations or other occassions were composed of rectangular textile sheets. They decorated the red velvet textile walls with floral ornaments, architectural motifs or figures of Mughal and Rajput history. The decoration was made by applying gold paint or by affixing pieces of gold foil.
The flourishing bush under the lobed arch is a popular ornamental motif of the Mughal era. The velvet base has been stitched together from several sheets.
