The album containing Dezső Bozóky's travelphotos (second). Related item: A.4760.2. (album). Unknown photographer. Photograph purchased by Dezső Bozóky. A view of Seoul from the Southern Gate. The thatched and tiled roofs of traditional, horseshoe-shaped Korean houses can be seen, and a few yards. On the right, tall brick buildings line the main road. Myeongdong Cathedral, built on an elevation, rises above the houses in the distance. “A beautiful Catholic church with a high steeple rises on a hill on the right side of the street, dominating a city that consists of low houses. This broad street is also lined with thatched, low Korean houses...” (Bozóky 1911, I. 502).
