Shiva sits on a tiger skin in the so-called “royal ease” posture (rajalilasana), holding a ritual drum (damaru) in his left hand and a string of beads (mala) in his right hand. The Ganges flows from his hair, which was originally tied in a knot, while the crescent moon adorns his forehead, and snakes coil themselves around his arms and neck. The depiction can be linked iconographically to nineteenth-century Jaipur carvings.
