Standing Buddha in a "bodhi tree contemplative pose". The statue was originally gilt, made with lacquer technique. His hands are still held in front of his body in a mediating gesture due to the seat he has just been sitting in. His hair is smooth (covered with a headband), unlike traditional iconographic standards, but the headdress (Skt.: ushnisha), indicating enlightenment, appears on the top of his head. The plinth is a later addition.
