Dagger with straight blade, hammered of steel. The carved handles of the daggers called sundangs are usually in the shape of a highly stylised bird head, the scabbard, like the guard, is made of wood.
Sundang is weapon similar to kris but heavier and more robust and is used for both stabbing and cutting. It is found on the islands of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, the Philippines, and the Sulu archipelago. Collected by Ferenc Hopp.
