Taranatha (1575-1634) performing exorcist riual
The image represents an asymmetric conposition. It is depicting an animent monk, the last Jonagpa principal Taranatha (1575-1634). He wears the typical robe of the era he lived in. He holds a ritual dagger (tib. phur bu) towards a triangle surrounded with flames. A small human figure is forced inside the triangle to be the object of the malefic, exorcist ritual. The landscape shows monasteries and monks. On the sky among the clouds is sitting an Arhat on the right above a building, and an emanation of Mahákálá is on the left. Sridevi is riding her mule in the lower corner of the painting.
