The painting, made in the Ðông Hồ workshop in Vietnam, shows a purple pig with five colourful piglets. The mother sow and her offspring all bear colourful yin-yang signs on their sides. The image is a wish for abundant harvest and happy life and prosperity, and is one of the most popular subjects of folk woodcuts for the Tết (Lunar New Year) celebration.
