Vishnu's lion-man incarnation. It is a version of the Simhavatara depictions which shows Vishnu as the Lion man sitting after the punishment of Hiranjakashipu, receiving the homage of his followers. He sits with his legs crossed and pulled up, with the upavita, the sacred thread, thrown across his chest. Lion-like face, large mustache, slaked tongue. Four hands, the first two placed on his knees. Sri Lakshmi sits in his lap, in a half-kneeling position. The two hind hands are raised, the right holds the chakra, the left holds the sankha.
