Wei tuo (veda in Sanskrit): celestial general, head of the demons. In Chinese Buddhist temples, his sculpture stands behind the altar of the Laughing Buddha with his back turned. The standing figure with his one leg taking a step is represented wearing a general’s costume and holding a sword.
