LET'S MAKE TEA! | International Tea Day Celebration
“In the liquid amber within the ivory-porcelain, the initiated may touch the sweet reticence of Confucius, the piquancy of Laotse, and the ethereal aroma of Sakyamuni himself. Those who cannot feel the littleness of great things in themselves are apt to overlook the greatness of little things in others.”
(From The Book of Tea by Okakura Kakuzō)
Celebrating International Tea Day (21 May), we dedicate a whole day to tea and the various Asian traditions surrounding it. Since the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts boasts a collection spanning the entire Asian continent, during the event there will be a chance to taste delicacies from the tea cultures of Japan, China, India and Southeast-Asia. We cordially invite every tea enthusiast, as well as those who would like to get a first impression of tea customs. The event is ideal for families, since there will be many interesting interactive workshops for children throughout the day.
The following tea experts, associations and cultural institutions will help us familiarize ourselves with tea traditions:
