Sojourn in the Kingdom of Heaven. Photographs taken in China by Dezső Bozóky

Dr. Dezső Bozóky, physician of the Austro-Hungarian Navy, performed military service in the Far East between 1907 and 1909. During these twenty-six months, he visited the most important ports of China, Korea and Japan several times. He recorded his experiences in newspaper articles and in his two-volume travelogue titled Two Years in East Asia. While there, he produced a vast number of photos, where ever he went. His recordings taken in Chinese cities and in the countryside show to the posterity China in the last decade of the imperial era. Exhibition on trip abroad: Two years in East Asia.
