Batarita - BREATHING LIGHT, BREATHING SHADOW

Batarita - BREATHING LIGHT, BREATHING SHADOW

"My soul shone and became light, but my body, my instrument, was distorted and I was unable to play it as before."

The artist has prepared a very personal piece for the occasion, inspired by the Hopp Museum's current exhibition.

What is the piece about? What are visitors to expect?
Here are some highly personal thoughts, a quasi-confession from the performer:

"This work is unusual for me because I normally work with universal themes, but this time I have turned to a personal experience of my own life.

Few people know, only those closest to me, that I almost crossed over to the other side a year and a half ago. The piece is a reflection on what I experienced then, a story told through the language of body and dance.

The current exhibition of the Hopp Museum made me reminisce on the school of the last “great” movement artists. I was a student of the last class, and had the opportunity to absorb the teachings of my masters, Sára P. Berczik, Éva E. Kovács, Dr. Gedeon Dienes, Ágnes Szöllősi and Judit Kármán, and today I am the only performer from our class who is still active. I am inspired not only by my own story, but also by contemporary composer Balázs Kovács XRC and a young energetic talent, Kevin Ihaza, who represents perhaps one of the most important things: he is happy to learn new things and looks at the world with open eyes.

It is this complex experience that shaped the performance, and that is what we bring to you – without words.

Don't ask, just feel."
