Treasures of Ancient China - The Age of the Jade Emperors | Exhibition at Móra Ferenc Museum, Szeged | 24 June - 31 December 2023

An international exhibition has opened at Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged. In the exhibition entitled Treasures of Ancient China - The Age of the Jade Emperors, visitors can "go on an adventure" in ancient China, as the exhibition presents original ancient Chinese artefacts from the Shanghai Museum, the Chengdu Archaeological Center, the Xuzhou Museum and the Ferenc Hopp Museum of Asiatic Arts. Among the artefacts are special utensils, ornaments, amulets and unique objects used at funerals. The most impressive piece in the collection is, for certain, a royal jade funerary armour: the armour is made of jade plates, strung together with gold threads, and is a magnificent sight, made from a total of 1,460 jade plates assembled with gold threads.

The Hopp Ferenc Museum of Asiatic Art has brought a number of fascinating objects to Szeged. Among them are beautiful beads, belt, bridle and cloth ornaments, Hun-period cauldrons and a brick from the Great Wall of China.

The exhibition has opened on the Night of Museums on 24 June 2023, and awaits visitors until 31 December 2023.
